A Fun North Yorkshire Wedding Venue
Camblesforth Hall, North Yorkshire
The most beautiful of Wedding Venues:
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that offers that little bit extra, then look no further than the staggeringly beautiful Camblesforth Hall. This Grade 1 listed, Georgian home and wedding venue, in the heart of North Yorkshire, dates back to 1690. Hidden behind some beautiful gates in the little village of Camblesthorpe, in the selby district of North Yorkshire, this stunning property has an air of historic elegance. You might say it sort of bridges the gap between more traditional and more modern wedding venues.
As well as offering a base for you to celebrate your wedding all weekend long, Camblesforth Hall also gives you the freedom to tailor their ceremony spaces. This means you can ensure they are more in keeping with your own wedding themes, styles and aesthetic preferences.
A Personal Wedding Ceremony
Your Wedding, You Way!
There is no doubt, Camblesforth Hall stands proud as a beacon of Georgian elegance. Check out the drone shots on their website. Its true essence, though, is one of warmth; as soon as you walk in, you’ll feel it’s relaxed, welcoming charm. This is thanks to the Hall’s current owners, who also live in the property. They lovingly restored the hall a few years ago it into the home and wedding venue it is today. I met with one of the owners Naomi, who explained that ‘Your Wedding, your Way’ is an ethos they stand by when welcoming potential couples to the hall. Only committing to 30 weddings a year, they are very certain that your wedding should never feel like it’s on a conveyor belt of weddings. Naomi is on hand from your first viewing of the venue through to the wedding weekend itself. This means she can guide and support you to create the wedding you want. Seriously, Naomi and her husband are fully dedicated to ensuring complete devotion and personalisation of your wedding at their Hall:
“People are free to design their own wedding themselves. I want them to have a wedding they want, rather than one I’m telling them they have to have.”
Of course, this ethos works seamlessly with thaose of independent wedding celebrants, like myself. Choosing a celebrant-led ceremony at Camblesforth Hall would offer you even more opportunity to orchestrate something completely unique and authentic to you. Naomi has a little black book of award winning wedding suppliers that she knows and trusts, including wedding celebrants who have officiated ceremonies there before. She has built up a good understanding of who might be the best person to use to suit your style and personality.
The unwavering dedication of Naomi and her husband stems from the fact that they live at the Hall with their daughter; it’s very much their family home. It’s clear to see that the transformation of the Hall, barns and grounds into the unique wedding venue it is today, has been something of a passion project.
You might be wondering how this wedding venue in North Yorkshire can really allow you to plan your personalised day and I think this comes from the adaptability of it’s owners but also the venue itself. Whether you envisage an outdoor wedding in the walled garden, a romantic ceremony amidst the majestic high ceilings of one of the barns, or a fun, family packed wedding making full use of the hall grounds, Camblesforth Hall really can offer it all.
A Closer Look at Camblesforth Hall
Bridgerton Inspired:
The wedding venue is made up of three restored barns around a central courtyard. Ceremonies normally take place in the coach house which comfortably seats 100 guests. It’s simple but charming; imagine exposed beams, a cartwheel chandelier and twinkling fairy lights. The barn can be adorned with flowers or blossom trees or simply left to it’s naturalistic beauty.
Guests would then spill out into the courtyard which is beautiful with silver birch trees and coach lights. Here there is space for things like pizza vans (though the Hall can also use a dedicated catering team if necessary) or champagne tables and it’s the perfect spot for a drinks reception and confetti shots. Alternatively, your guests might move into the bar located in the Poultigerry Barn (formally a cattle barn) which has a fully stocked bar made from reclaimed barrels and floor to ceiling windows; these can be opened to give the indoor, outdoor feel. It’s furnished with dark leather chairs, antique furniture and modern, playful signage. Naomi was quick to reassure me that everything can be removed allowing you to arrange the room however you see fit.
The main reception space is known as the Hemmel Barn which can comfortably sit up to 100 guests on round or long tables. Linked to the Hemmel Barn is the Cart Shed which is the main space used for the evening reception with space for a band or DJ.
The Hall also has beautiful grounds which can be used on the wedding day with guests often staging garden games for their guests on the front lawns. There is a swimming pool which is also included in the package. On the day of the ceremony it’s limited just for a photographs (check out their Instagram for some fabulously fun wedding shots complete with pink flamingoes in the background) but is free to guests staying for the remainder of their stay. There is also a walled garden and is worth noting that this also falls under the venues licencing for legally binding ceremonies.
A Weekend-long Affair
When you hire Camblesforth Hall for your wedding, you get a key to the Guest Wing from 9am the day before the wedding (and fob for the gate) for the full weekend! This includes two bedrooms and bathrooms (one being the bridal suite), a dining room for breakfast cooked and served by the owners on the morning of the wedding and the morning after, your own entrance to the guest wing, access to the swimming pool (complete with BBQ, a bar and toilets), the walled garden, tennis courts and Hall Grounds. At the time of writing this post there were 45 car parking spaces (with more being created), direct access to the barns for suppliers to use. The fact that you get to celebrate all weekend long with your loved ones, is such an exciting prospect; I’m wondering whether I can convince my husband to renew our vows.
Naomi gave me a sneaky peek at the bedrooms and bathrooms and they didn’t disappoint. Each room has been individually designed using interior specialists to the highest standards- I still haven’t forgotten about the luxurious, textured wallpaper which gave serious Bridgeton vibes. Of course the owners are flexible in terms of the guests set up, moving furniture if needs be to fit in an extra bed etc.
